As part of its of its Warner Bros Archive Collection, WB has just announced the availability of the gory 1970 Brit sci-fi flick NO BLADE OF GRASS on DVD. Directed by acting legend Cornel Wilde, the film takes place after an environmental catastrophe destroys civilization. A couple (Nigel Davenport and Jean Wallace) try to lead their family to safety in a savage world, but sometimes a flight for salvation can become a journey to damnation! Raw, uncompromising and violent, the film was years ahead of its time. Rare screenings of the film over the years have been eagerly sought out by fans of extreme cinema, and its now available on home video in a full, uncut remastered 16x9 edition. The Archive Collection is also making available the 1981 slasher pic NIGHT SCHOOL, with Rachel Ward making her “scream” debut. The film will also be presented remastered and 16x9. to reveal their plans for a high-definition release of the cult classic
1967 Hammer Film, FRANKENSTEIN CREATED WOMAN
on January 28th. Directed by Terence Fisher and starring horror icon

young children and an adult in a small town have an encounter with an

as adults in the same town which is now beset by strange cattle mutilations.
Matters become worse when the cattle mutilations are joined by human
murders and mutilations. Jan Michael Vincent, Cybill Shepherd, Martin
Landau and Raymond Burr star in this sci-fi terror from the director
of WITHOUT WARNING (which is still unavailable on DVD or Blu-ray). Neville

Synapse
Films, Inc. has acquired the North American home-video rights to Dario
Argento's 1977 classic horror film SUSPIRIA.
“I’ve been involved in the restoration and release of many
films in my career, but SUSPIRIA has always eluded me, until now,”
says Donald May, Jr., President of Synapse Films. “It’s
one of my favorite horror films and I’m ecstatic that my business
partner, Jerry Chandler, was able to negotiate with the rights holders
to release this film. This is going to be an amazing project for us.”
Synapse Films, Inc. will work closely with Technicolor Rome and Technicolor
Los Angeles to create an all-new high-definition 2K scan from the original
negative for a possible 2014-15 video release. “It’s important
to spend as much time as possible to create the definitive high-definition
home video version for the fans,” May explains. “We’re
going to take our time with this one.” Synapse is currently planning
the extensive work on SUSPIRIA in conjunction with Technicolor, utilizing
both their Rome and Hollywood facilities. The film scanning will be
coordinated and supervised by Technicolor Hollywood’s Director
of Restoration Services, Tom Burton. Final specifications, retail pricing,
and extras for the this release will be announced closer to the as yet
to be determined release date.
Mystery,
murder and mayhem take flight in THE BAT
– restored and in HD for the first time ever – debuting
on Turner Classic Movies Oct. 24 and DVD November 12 from Film Chest
Media Group. Featuring an all-star cast, this suspenseful cult favorite
from 1959, will keep you on the edge of your seat! The film stars horror
icon Vincent Price, as well as Agnes Moorehead, Lenita Lane, Gavin Gordon,
John Sutton and Darla Hood (of “The Little Rascals” in her
last film appearance), and it concerns a town terrorized by a mysterious
murderer known only as “The Bat,” said to be a man with
no face who kills women at night by ripping out their throats with steel
claws. THE BAT will be presented in widescreen (16x9) and mono sound
and the SRP is $11.98.

Classics is proud to announce the Blu-ray and DVD release of Curtis
Harrington's landmark independent horror classic, NIGHT
TIDE, starring Dennis Hopper in a new edition mastered in HD
from 35mm elements restored by the Academy Film Archive, with support
from The Film Foundation and Curtis Harrington. NIGHT TIDE tells the
story of a sailor on shore leave who becomes fascinated by a woman who
poses as a mermaid in an oceanfront carnival. As their relationship
blossoms, Johnny (Dennis Hopper) realizes that Mora (Linda Lawson) is
more than a sideshow illusionist. She seems to be a descendent of the
mythical sirens of the sea, and is under the mesmeric control of a mysterious
woman who beckons Mora to return to her home beneath the waves. This
edition streets on October 15th with a SRP of $29.95 for the Blu-ray
and $24.95 for the DVD. It includes audio commentary by Curtis Harrington
and Dennis Hopper; a two-part interview with Curtis Harrington by David
Del Valle (1987, 55 min.); and the original theatrical trailer. 
According
to Shout! Factory’s Facebook page, they will be releasing a Blu-ray
of the 1965 AIP horror classic DIE, MONSTER, DIE!
in the early part of 2014. Directed by Daniel Haller (THE DUNWICH HORROR),
the films stars horror legend Boris Karloff and Nick Adams (MONSTER
ZERO). Check out the cover artwork (left), which uses the original theatrical
poster art. No other details at this time, but hopefully this means
more vintage AIP drive-in horror on Blu-ray in the future (how about
a Blu-ray of Karloff in THE CRIMSON CULT,
aka THE CURSE OF THE CRIMSON ALTAR, another
H.P. Lovecraft adaptation which has still never seen DVD release in
the U.S.?!). 
On
September 24, Olive Films will release TAM LIN
(aka THE DEVIL’S WIDOW) on both Blu-ray and DVD (newly mastered
in HD). Legendary Hollywood goddess, Ava Gardner (ONE TOUCH OF VENUS)
delivers a mesmerizing performance in director Roddy McDowall’s
wickedly suspenseful tale of decadent young thrill-seekers and the sinister

Grindhouse
Releasing has just announced CORRUPTION,
the rarely seen 1968 shocking British feature starring Peter Cushing
as a mad surgeon, which will hit Blu-ray and DVD on September 10. The
Grindhouse Releasing special edition of CORRUPTION coincides with the
legendary Hammer Films star's 100th birthday, and will be preceded by
a series of theatrical playdates. Grindhouse will also release the recent
Midnite cult favorite AN AMERICAN HIPPIE IN ISRAEL
which will also hit Blu-ray and DVD on September 10. Four additional
titles will follow in late 2013 and late 2014: Sergio Sollima's THE
BIG GUNDOWN, THE SWIMMER, starring
Burt Lancaster, Duke Mitchell's GONE WITH THE
POPE and S.F. Brownrigg's SCUM OF THE EARTH
(a.k.a. POOR WHITE TRASH PART 2). According to co-founder Bob Murawski,

April 30th, Scorpion Releasing presents a pair of Ozploitation DVD releases,
as well as a wacky British comedy. First up, BODY
MELT! It's a sunny day in suburbia. Suddenly, a hideously deformed
dying man disrupts the peace, crashing his car in the neighborhood of
Pebbles Court, the better part of Homesville. He's the victim of the
experimental drug Vimuville, marketed as a "dietary supplement",
which has apparently malfunctioned. He arrives too late to warn the
population of Homesville against trying the pill that was dropped in
their mailbox by a respectable pharmaceutical company. Unfortunately,
the folks of Homesville are suckers for freebies and they too start
deforming, mutating and exploding. (

Factory’s Scream Factory arm have just announced some vert exciting
news! They will be releasing a Blu-ray collection box set before Halloween
that showcases some of legendary horror star Vincent Price's greatest
films which include: FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER,
THE HAUNTED PALACE, THE
MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH, THE PIT AND THE
PENDULUM, WITCHFINDER GENERAL (and
its alternate U.S. version of the film, THE CONQUEROR
WORM) and THE ABOMINABLE DR. PHIBES.

Millennium
Entertainment will distribute titles from Exclusive Media’s Hammer
library in the U.S., which means they will eventually be released on
Blu-ray disc. According to Steve Nickerson, President of Millennium
Entertainment, “Hammer is one of the most renowned and beloved
film brands in the world and we are thrilled to bring the Hammer Films
library to U.S. fans.” With this new distribution deal, a number
of Hammer classics will be made available to the public in new configurations
for the first time in almost 10 years. With a multi-tiered approach,
a full release schedule is planned to provide high end, limited edition
Blu-rays and Collector’s Sets to the loyal horror fan over the
next several years. The releases will commence April 2nd with DVD release
of the “Hammer Horror 3 Feature Film Set” featuring DRACULA:
PRINCE OF DARKNESS (1966), THE LEGEND OF
THE SEVEN GOLDEN VAMPIRES (1974) and FRANKENSTEIN
CREATED WOMAN (1967). “We are really pleased to be in business
with Millennium to bring the newly restored titles from our library
to the United States in HD for the first time,” said Peter Naish,

OF TERROR! Celia is a lonely nine-year-old girl growing up in
the Melbourne suburbs in the late 1950s. She is the victim of several
traumas that led to horrific results, and she suffers from nightmares

when a new family moves in next door with three children for Celia to
play with. But her parents forbid her to play with the children, because
the parents are members of the Communist Party. It all comes to a head
when, because of a national plague of rabbits, the Victoria State government
orders a turning over of all domestic rabbits. When her uncle confiscates
her beloved pet rabbit, Celia’s world explodes with terrifying

to the gothic as a setting for a gruesome thriller. Working with producer

Film Boutique RaroVideo announces horror fan favorite NIGHT
OF THE DEVILS (1972) restored to its original splendor for the
first time ever on DVD and Blu-ray September 25, 2012 (NOTE: this release
has been a bit delayed to late October). Italian genre film legend Gianni
Garko stars in this terrifying masterpiece of the macabre, based on
Tolstoy’s story The Wurdulak, itself previously adapted in Mario

Bros has officially announced that they will be releasing HOUSE
OF DARK SHADOWS (1970), the feature film version of the popular
TV serial involving a vampire's quest for a cure to marry a lovely mortal,
and its follow-up NIGHT OF DARK SHADOWS
(1971), about a man and his wife moving into a home and finding themselves
plagued by spirits of his ancestors that used to be witches, on both
Blu-Ray and DVD. The street date is October 30, 2012. The retail price
for the Blu-Rays will be $19.98 each, while the DVDs will be $14.96
each. NIGHT will be the standard theatrical version and not a restored
director’s cut. Both titles are expected to include their trailers.

girl is assaulted in the woods near her London school. Struck dumb by
her experience, she remains so until a second girl is murdered. The
school art teacher (Suzy Kendall) claims to have seen the killer –
who looks like Satan himself – and she decides to set a trap for
him using herself as bait. A British flavored giallo, and a ripping
good whodunit. The film also stars Leslie-Ann Downe (COUNTESS DRACULA),
Freddie Jones (FRANKENSTEIN MUST BE DESTROYED) and Frank Finley (THE

has just revealed the cover art for their upcoming Blu-Ray release of
ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN,
which has a street date of 8/28/12. The world of baggage handlers Chick
Young (Bud Abbott) and Wilbur Grey (Lou Costello) is turned upside down
when they receive the remains of Dracula (Bela Lugosi) and the Frankenstein
monster (Glenn Strange) bound for the House of Horrors museum. When
Dracula and the monster escape, complete chaos ensues as Chick and Wilbur
get mixed up in an evil plot to switch Wilbur’s brain with Frankenstein’s
and are aided by Larry Talbot (Lon Chaney, Jr.), who turns into The
Wolf Man when the moon is full! This Blu-Ray package (which includes
DVD + Digital Copy) will contain bonus material of the featurette, “Abbott
and Costello Meet the Monsters”, the Feature Commentary with Film
Historian Gregory W. Mank and Production Photographs. 
On
July 3, another Vincent Price horror classic makes it was to DVD when
Sony releases THE MAD MAGICIAN (1954) under
it “Columbia Classics” banner. Price is at his terrifying
best as Gallico the Great, an inspired inventor of magic acts who longs
to perform his creations himself. When he finally gets his chance, the
production is closed by Gallico’s cruel manager, who wants a rival
magician to perform Gallico’s greatest trick, The Lady and the
Buzz Saw. An enraged Gallico turns into a homicidal maniac, taking out
his victims with the same methods he used to create his illusions. The
film also stars Mary Murphy, Eva Gabor and Patrick O’Neal (CHAMBER
OF HORRORS). Originally shown in 3-D, the DVD will be the flat version,
but presented widescreen anamorphic.

August 8th, Olive Films will release “one of the most requested
horror films”, THE BOOGENS (1981)
on both Blu-Ray and DVD. In a small town near Denver, two young men
begin to explore a long-abandoned old mine recently re-opened by a group
of miners. When one the men is discovered missing, his friends begin
a search that leads them to horrifying consequences. They’re all
unaware of the evil that’s been unleashed and soon, one by one,
a monster that no one has seen snatches up the townspeople. Suddenly,
the grisly truth is revealed and a young couple is forced to confront
the unknown in order to save their lives… and the entire town.
Directed by James L. Conway (HANGER 18). The film will be newly mastered
in HD from an archival 35mm print, and the release will include an audio
commentary with director Conway, star Rebecca Balding and screenwriter

Macabro is proud to present the official director’s cut of Jess
Franco's outrageous and delirious COUNTESS PERVERSE.
Newly restored from a rare camera negative, this limited-edition DVD
arrives on June 12th with a S.R.P. of $24.99. In the 1973 film starring
Howard Vernon and Alice Arno, a pair of decadent and debauched aristocrats
turns their private island into a human hunting ground where they can
stalk their naked prey. As each victim is murdered, their carcass is
then cooked and fed to their guests; simply delicious! What the unsuspecting
visitors don't realize is that they will soon become the next evening’s
“meal”, eventually fighting for their lives in a shocking

believe what your eyes see. In the tradition of TALES FROM THE CRYPT
and CREEPSHOW… this anthology of pulp horror tales, helmed by
the ever-reliable horror master, Freddie Francis (DR. TERROR’S
HOUSE OF HORRORS). The film features a quartet of eerie vignettes involving
four patients in the care of psychiatrist Donald Pleasance (HALLOWEEN),
who’s attempting to justify his strange theories to colleague,
Jack Hawkins (THEATRE OF BLOOD). The all-star cast includes Kim Novak,
Joan Collins, Peter McEnery and Suzy Kendall. One the same date, Olive

Joan Crawford stars as Monica Rivers, the owner of a traveling circus

WOMEN IN CAGES COLLECTION which will bow
on both Blu-ray (August 23) and DVD (June 21). THE
BIG BIRD CAGE will feature an audio commentary with director
Jack Hill, a trailer, a TV spot and a photo gallery. THE
BIG DOLL HOUSE will feature an audio commentary with Hill, “Leonard
Maltin Interviews Roger Corman”, a trailer, TV spot, radio spot
and a photo gallery. DOLL HOUSE will also include “From Manila
With Love” – A new documentary on the making of both DOLL
HOUSE and BIRD CAGE featuring interviews with Hill, screenwriter James
Gordon White, actors Sid Haig, Judy Brown, Anitra Ford, Roberta Collins,
Candice Roman and Teda Bracci, and producers Roger Corman and Jane Schaffer!
The third film on the set, WOMEN IN CAGES,
will include a trailer, TV spot and a photo gallery. Shout! is also
releasing THE WILD WEST COLLECTION, a DVD
featuring anamorphic presentations of two Jim Brown westerns: RIO
CONCHOS and TAKE A HARD RIDE, the
latter which will include new interviews with stars Fred Williamson
and Jim Kelly, as well as a theatrical trailer.
Olive
Films has just confirmed to us that they will be releasing the 1958
Paramount science fiction classic THE COLOSSUS
OF NEW YORK on DVD this August. Directed by Eugène Lourié
(THE GIANT BEHEMOTH, GORGO), the film stars Ross Martin, Otto Kruger,
John Baragrey and Mala Powers, and this will be the first time the tale
of a dead scientist who's brain is transplanted into that of a giant
robot has been given a legit home video release in the U.S. Olive Films
will also be working on a DVD release of the 1952 Paramount film THE
ATOMIC CITY, starring Gene Barry. More details to follow!

Films has surprised us with a May 3 street date for a blu-ray double
feature disc containing THE MAN WHO COULD CHEAT
DEATH and THE SKULL. This two-disc
collection is filled with suspense and terror as it features classic,
bone-chilling tales from two of the biggest horror powerhouse producers:
Hammer Studios and Amicus Productions. THE SKULL weaves a chilling tale
surrounding the real-life terrors of the Marquis de Sade. Featuring
outstanding performances by Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, this
tale introduces Dr. Christopher Maitland (Cushing) who purchases the
infamous skull of the Marquis de Sade, a decision that he was warned
against by his good friend - and previous skull owner - Matthew Phillips
(Lee). The question is whether or not Dr. Maitland will live to regret
his decision. THE MAN WHO COULD CHEAT DEATH features a horror filled
tale starring Anton Diffring as Dr. Georges Bonnet, a man with a hideous
obsession to live forever all he needs are the glands of some very unwilling
donors. Also starring Christopher Lee and the beautiful horror legend
Hazel Court, this film is a suspense-filled ride for all who enjoy classic
horror cinema.
On
May 17, RaroVideo U.S. will release THE SECRET
OF DORIAN GRAY (1970) on DVD. Never before released on DVD in
the U.S., this is a 1970s classic Italian film restored to its original
splendor. In London, a wealthy, god-like, young man, Dorian Gray, loves
Sybil, an aspiring actress; thanks to her, he’s momentarily less
self-centered. He’s also sitting, scantily clad, for a portrait
painted by his ascot-wearing friend, Basil. When it’s done, Dorian
complains he’ll grow old while it stays unchanged – the
classic plight of the vain. On the same night, as if he has sold his
soul to the devil, exchanging vanity for morality, he ends it with Sybil,
and then accepts the seductive offer of a party’s hostess to sleep
with her. The next day, the painting looks slightly older. In horror
and fascination, Dorian hides it away and continues a life of degradation.
Over time, as the portrait becomes hideous, he’s unchanged by
his ever-increasing libidinal life; finally, he and Basil face the painting.
The exceptionally groovy score by Giuseppe De Luca enhances the seventies
milieu. The film stars Helmut Berger, Richard Todd, Herbert Lom, Marie
Liljedahl and Margaret Lee. DORIAN GRAY has been restored from the original
35mm negative and will include an interview with the assistant director
Maurizio Tanfani.
Shout!
Factory has been releasing a string of memorable cult-classic film gems

Sony
has just made CREATURES THE WORLD FORGOT
available as part of its “Screen Classics By Request” Collection.
This singular film from Hammer Studios, set in the Stone Age, has almost
no dialogue — the people speak in grunts — but it is strangely
effective. Focused on a tribe of cavemen, and specifically a pair of
twin brothers who become rivals for the leadership of the tribe following
the impact of a devastating earthquake, the human struggles are portrayed
fairly realistically (no dinosaurs roaming the earth). Directed by Don
Chaffey (JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS, ONE MILLION YEARS B.C.), whose ability
to craft an engaging, human story with mythical characters and beasts
was well-proven by the time he undertook this feature. Written by veteran
Hammer producer and writer Michael Carreras (THE SNORKEL, MANIAC, ONE
MILLION YEARS B.C.), and starring beautiful Julie Ege (THE LEGEND OF
THE SEVEN GOLDEN VAMPIRES), Brian O'Shaughnessey (THE GODS MUST BE CRAZY),
and Tony Bonner (QUIGLEY DOWN UNDER); another lesser-known film that
deserves its cult status. Newly remastered in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio.

executive Dinah Hunter (Yvette Mimieux – THE TIME MACHINE) leaves
a promising career in Los Angeles to start a new life in New York City.
She heads east on a long cross-country drive that becomes a nightmare
after she picks up some hitchhikers and finds herself beaten up and
stranded in a small town, then is thrown in the jailhouse on vagrancy
charges. Dinah finds herself at the mercy of some bad cops, but she
finds a way to escape with another prisoner, Coley Blake (Tommy Lee
